Learning to drive in Moss Side and Hulme
This is our patch. ZK Driving School grew up in Moss Side and Hulme, and a big chunk of our passes every year come from these streets. We know the area properly — which roads are calm enough for lesson one, which junctions catch people out, and how to get you comfortable on Princess Road and the Mancunian Way before your test.
Moss Side and Hulme give you everything a learner needs within a mile: quiet grids of residential streets around Alexandra Park and Claremont Road, the busy Moss Lane East / Princess Road junctions, Stretford Road and the Hulme Arch, and the fast Mancunian Way ring road on the edge of town. You build up in stages, at your pace.
From here, tests are usually at West Didsbury (south) or Cheetham Hill (north) — both about 15 minutes away — and we teach the routes to both. Whichever you book, you’ll have driven the roads many times before test day.

Everyone’s different. Complete beginners typically need somewhere around 30–40 hours with an instructor; if you’ve driven before it can be far fewer. After your first lesson or two we’ll give you an honest estimate and a plan.
Pay-as-you-go lessons are 1½ hours (£55) or 2 hours (£70 manual / £72 automatic). Block-book 10 hours (£330 manual / £350 auto) or 20 hours (£650 manual / £680 auto) and the hourly rate drops to as little as £32.50. Intensive courses are priced separately.
