Learning to drive in Stretford and Old Trafford
Stretford and Old Trafford give you a great spread of driving: calm residential streets around Longford Park and Gorse Hill for your first lessons, then the busy A56 Chester Road, Talbot Road, Seymour Grove and Barton Road for traffic, lanes and big junctions. The Metrolink runs right through, so you’ll get used to tram crossings and tram stops early.
There are local quirks we make sure you’re ready for — match-day traffic around the stadiums, the junctions by Trafford Bar, and the quick hop onto the M60 at Stretford. Our instructors cover Stretford, Old Trafford, Firswood and Urmston every week.
Most learners here test at Sale, a few minutes down the A56 — so you’ll practise its routes regularly. West Didsbury is the other local option.

We teach both. Manual gives you a licence for any car; automatic is often quicker and calmer to learn, especially if you’re nervous. Not sure? We’ll talk it through on a quick call — no pressure either way.
Everyone’s different. Complete beginners typically need somewhere around 30–40 hours with an instructor; if you’ve driven before it can be far fewer. After your first lesson or two we’ll give you an honest estimate and a plan.
Pay-as-you-go lessons are 1½ hours (£55) or 2 hours (£70 manual / £72 automatic). Block-book 10 hours (£330 manual / £350 auto) or 20 hours (£650 manual / £680 auto) and the hourly rate drops to as little as £32.50. Intensive courses are priced separately.
